Xiamen University Fujian Provincial Government Scholarships
1. Introduction
In order to attract more international students to study in Fujian Province and to promote the international exchange and cooperation between Fujian Province and the rest of the world, Fujian provincial government set up scholarships for exceptional international students in undergraduate, master's or doctoral programmes in 2012. The scholarships cover tuition and accommodation fee for one academic year.
2. Eligibility
(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
(2) Educational background and age limits:
﹡Applicants for bachelor’s degree studies must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 30.
﹡Applicants for master's degree studies must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.
﹡Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master's degree and be under the age of 40.
3. Academic programmes
(1)English-medium undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes
In order to enhance its internationalization, XMU has launched a variety of English-medium programmes at undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels for international students. These programmes are taught in English and aim to produce high-level international specialists with a solid professional foundation plus a good understanding of the Chinese society and culture.
(2)Chinese-medium undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes
Most undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes are taught in Chinese.
4. Application time: Feb 1 to May 10, 2019
5. Selection and notification
Applicants for undergraduate programmes will be given priority if they apply with a high score in SAT, IB diploma, GCE A level test, or UEC test. Applicants for postgraduate programmes will be given priority consideration if they graduate from world-renowned universities, sister universities or are recommended by senior professors or experts. The University will submit a list of nominees to the Department of Education of Fujian Province for approval. Scholarship decisions will be made on the basis of the applicants’ application documents, academic performance, overall merits, research achievements and supervisors’ comments. The result will be published around August 2018 on the website of the Admissions Office (http://admissions.xmu.edu.cn). Scholarship awardees will be notified via email.
