In order to attract and encourage more outstanding international students to study for a degree at Southern Medical University, and to reward and subsidize excellent students, our school provides freshmen scholarships for international students who meet the conditions to apply.

I. Open professional

Southern Medical University Guangdong Provincial Government Freshman Scholarship for International Students in Guangdong is open to self-funded applicants of all majors.

II. Scholarship standards

1. Freshmen for PhD students: The scholarship standard is 30,000 yuan/person/one-time.

2. New graduate students: The scholarship standard is 20,000 yuan/person/one-time.

3. Freshmen for undergraduates: The scholarship standard is 10,000 yuan/person/one-time.

III. Application conditions

1. Have a foreign nationality, hold a valid foreign passport and meet the relevant requirements for international students in China.

2. Age requirements:

1) Applicants for doctoral programs must be under 40 years old.

2) Applicants for master's degree programs must be under 35 years old.

3) Applicants for undergraduate courses must be under 30 years old.

3. Friendly to China, healthy, abiding by laws and regulations, diligent, studious, good conduct, no bad record or criminal record.

4. Good grades and a clear study purpose in China. Applicants for master's or doctoral programs must have a GPA of 3.0 or above at the previous stage of education, and all have failed or retaken subjects. Applicants for undergraduate courses should have a three-year high school grade of more than 75%, and all failing subjects.

5. Language requirements:

Apply for a Chinese-taught undergraduate program: a certificate of 180 points or above in the new HSK Level 4 or equivalent;

Applying for Chinese-taught graduate programs: New HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 or above or equivalent language proficiency certificate; students whose highest degree is a Chinese-taught course must submit a Chinese-taught certificate;

Apply for English-taught programs: Applicants from non-English speaking countries need to provide a TOEFL IBT score of 68 or higher or IELTS score of 6.0 or higher or equivalent language proficiency certificate. If the highest degree is obtained in a country where the native language is English, and the language of instruction is English, a certificate of instruction in English must be submitted.

IV. Application materials (all application materials must be duplicated)

(1) Graduate applicants

1. Submit application materials for postgraduate admissions of foreign students. For details, please refer to the "Southern Medical University Foreign Students Postgraduate (Advanced Students) Admissions Guide";

2. "Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship Application Form for International Students in Guangdong (2)";

3. Personal written description (description content: if the scholarship cannot be obtained, whether the applicant is willing to change to a self-financed international student. If this description is not submitted, our school defaults that the applicant agrees to be a self-financed international student).

 (2) Undergraduate applicants

1. Submit application materials for undergraduate admissions of foreign students. For details, please refer to "Southern Medical University Foreign Students Undergraduate Majors (English-taught) Admissions Guidelines" or "Southern Medical University Foreign Students Undergraduates Majors (Chinese-taught) Admissions Guidelines"

2. "Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship Application Form for International Students in Guangdong (2)"

3. Must submit a recommendation letter from the principal of the high school where you graduated and a teacher (including the referee’s autograph, the referee’s effective contact information and the school official seal);

4. Personal written statement (description content: if the scholarship cannot be obtained, whether the applicant is willing to switch to a self-funded international student. If this statement is not submitted, our school defaults that the applicant agrees to switch to a self-funded international student).

V. Application deadline

Before April 30, 2018. All application materials must be mailed or delivered to the School of International Education, Southern Medical University.

VI. Selection criteria

The school will review the applicant materials according to the admission criteria and scholarship qualifications, and draw up a list of winners based on the merits.

★ Candidates for the Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in Guangdong need to be recommended by our school and reported to the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. The final list of winners is subject to the list assigned to our school by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education after publicity.

★ The winner of this scholarship program must pay all fees (including registration fee, tuition fee and accommodation fee) in accordance with Southern Medical University's admission fee for self-financed international students. The scholarship will be sent to the personal bank provided by the recipient in one lump sum after enrollment. Account.
